Directions: You have TWO assessments to complete after you have finished the individual and group activities. Below are the assessments. Complete the assessments the best you can, and work at your own pace. Any Questions? Ask.
Assessment 1: Portfolio
A portfolio is a chosen collection of your best work. The assignments you choose to include in your portfolio should be the assignments that you are proud to show others and are also proud to look at months, or even years, from now.
Directions: In this website, you completed 2 required individual activities, 2 optional individual activities, 2 required group activities, and 2 optional group activities. Of your 8 pieces of work, your task is to choose 4 of your best pieces to put into your student portfolio. For every piece selected, on a sheet of paper attached to the piece of work you must:
After you have finished writing about each of the 4 chosen pieces of work, your next task is to write a final reflection about your website experience. Attach your final reflection to the back of your portfolio. Your final reflection must be 4-7 sentences long, and it must include answers to these questions:

Assessment 2: Poster for the Principal
Directions: In this website, you explored the structure and properties of matter to help you solve the learning challenge. Your challenge was learn about the structure and properties of matter to help you plan an appropriate sack lunch to pack for the field trip to the Field Museum. Your task for assessment #2 is to create a poster to the principal showing and explaining what you plan to pack for sack lunch.
Your poster must include the following:

Directions: In this website, you explored the structure and properties of matter to help you solve the learning challenge. Your challenge was learn about the structure and properties of matter to help you plan an appropriate sack lunch to pack for the field trip to the Field Museum. Your task for assessment #2 is to create a poster to the principal showing and explaining what you plan to pack for sack lunch.
Your poster must include the following:
- A title.
- Your name.
- Labels for the following pictures: lunch sack, food drawings, and drink drawing (see below).
- A drawing of your lunch sack. Underneath the lunch sack, write what material the sack is made out of, why you chose that material, and how heavy you think your lunch sack (without anything in it) will be. HINT: Your "Lunch Sack: Characteristics of Materials" and "Weighing You Down" worksheets will help you make these decisions.
- Drawings of the food and drink that you plan to pack. Under each drawing of the food/drink, write what phase of matter the item is in, and write how much you think each item will weigh. HINT: Your "Lunch Layout Drawing," "What's for Lunch?" and "Weighing You Down" worksheets will help you make these decisions.
- An equation explaining the total weight of the food, drink, and lunch sack. HINT: Your "Weighing You Down" Worksheet will help you make this decision.
- COLOR - you want the principal to say, "WOW" about your posters.
